The genesis of my latest series of illustrations goes back to a hot August day in the mountains when, sitting at a round table in a café, surrounded by tall chestnut trees, bushes and lush plants, my attention was caught by a magnificent hydrangea. Of course, the botanical subject moved away from it, but the creative journey started from there. That encounter triggered a new passion for collecting leaves during my walks in the woods. Precious organic treasures, each with a unique shape and colour, became the basis for my artistic exploration. In re-imagining them through my eyes, I embraced a deliberate departure from realism. In the landscape of my mind, forms became simplified, colour contrasts accentuated and the background became almost metaphysical. Perhaps because in my head, everything is always incredibly complicated.
